Every entry below is hidden until you open it, and each names the chapter the character first appears in.

Sen (Protagonist)

Appears from the start

An independent cultivator and disciple of Feng Ming whose newly intensified anger is disrupting both his judgment and his cultivation. He travels with Falling Leaf, Feng's watcher, and a reluctant fire cultivator while trying to understand the danger within himself.

Falling Leaf (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Sen's transformed Ghost Panther companion and chosen family.

Feng Ming (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A powerful cultivator who taught Sen and assigned a covert protector to watch over him. Though absent from the journey, Feng Ming remains one of Sen's established teachers and protectors. His past guidance continues to shape both Sen's training and the company around him.

Kho Jaw-Long (Supporting)

Appears from the start

One of Sen's senior teachers and powerful protectors. His likely response to serious harm against Sen is enough to make informed enemies cautious. Although he remains offstage as the journey begins, his connection to Sen is an important part of the young cultivator's protection.

Caihong (Supporting)

Appears from the start

Sen's formidable teacher and a nascent-soul cultivator who has recently reunited with him.

Feng's watcher (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A late-core covert cultivator assigned by Feng to protect Sen. She continues travelling with him, although he distrusts her after she manipulated him in an attempt to reach her estranged brother. Even so, he listens when she warns that his growing anger poses an urgent danger.

Reluctant fire cultivator (Supporting)

Appears from the start

A lazy and vocal fire cultivator sent to travel with Sen under an agreement with the Order's matriarch. His reluctance and complaints repeatedly test Sen's already unstable temper. Sen gives him the choice to stop complaining or leave the group.

Clear Spring core cultivator (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 4

A Clear Spring core cultivator who previously sparred with Sen. She recognizes him when his party arrives, while she and Falling Leaf immediately regard each other with suspicion.

Princess (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 33

The Clear Spring cultivator travelling near Sen is revealed as a princess when capital officials recognize her. Facing a forced marriage to a dangerous noble, she gains Sen's conditional help while offering a possible route to the manual he needs.

Clear Spring patriarch (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 7

The elusive leader of Clear Spring, powerful enough that Sen cannot sense his cultivation. He tests Sen's restraint and explains that the sect possesses the needed manual but cannot access it.

Hostile Clear Spring cultivator (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 8

A Clear Spring water cultivator protected within the sect by his family's status. Sen will not hunt him, but intends to answer any attack with lethal force.

Clear Spring (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 10

An ancient, aware body of water that communicates through qi and images. It broadens Sen's understanding of water and warns that merely confining his anger may leave his heart permanently hardened. It shelters him when its first attempt to share knowledge overwhelms him.

Temple of Eternity's Edge leader (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 12

The founder of a cult that holds people inside a protected compound. When Caihong breaks its defenses, he orders his followers to resist and tries to escape. His authority collapses as the compound's formation fails and Caihong acts to recover those held there on Sen's behalf.

Ancient divine turtle (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 9

An ancient divine turtle whose guidance placed Sen on the Five-Fold Body Transformation path. Its intervention is the reason Sen began the incomplete body-cultivation method whose manual he now seeks.

Wind dragon (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 23

An overwhelmingly powerful dragon concealed within a deliberately barren wilderness. He suppresses Sen and Falling Leaf with ease, excludes Falling Leaf from the confrontation, and declares that Sen must learn before dying.

Spirit ox herd mother (Minor)

First appears in chapter 22

The leader of a spirit ox herd that shelters Sen and Falling Leaf while his injured leg heals. She explains why spirit beasts follow Sen and directs him toward a barren western region where he may find resolution or death.

Noble prince (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 36

The princess's politically cautious brother. A diviner has warned him that Sen's arrival could bring either fortune or disaster, so he approaches Sen seeking peaceful relations rather than an immediate favor.

King (Minor)

First appears in chapter 41

The royal father who approved the princess's unwanted marriage to Choi Zhi Peng. His decision leaves the prince looking for another way to prevent the wedding.

Queen (Minor)

First appears in chapter 44

The royal mother who, with the king, approved the princess's unwanted marriage to Choi Zhi Peng.

Rival royal brother (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 68

A competing royal heir who attacks the prince during the palace confrontation, turning the exposure of the king into an immediate struggle for the throne. His intervention forces the prince to defend both his life and his claim to rule while the royal household is in crisis.

Choi Zhi Peng (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 37

The House of Choi heir selected as the princess's husband. He is a powerful and cruel noble, and the arranged match places the princess at the center of a dangerous conflict between the royal family and a great house.

Steel Griffin leader (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 43

A nascent-soul leader of the Steel Griffin sect who intervenes after one of its elders attacks Sen and Falling Leaf. Revealed as Feng's brother, he accepts severe punishment for the elder to prevent a wider conflict.

Steel Griffin elder (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 43

A Steel Griffin elder who attempts to intimidate Sen and Falling Leaf. When she prepares to attack, Sen suppresses and wounds her.

Shadow Eagle Talon Syndicate head (Antagonist)

First appears in chapter 55

The bearded nascent-soul leader behind the Shadow Eagle Talon Syndicate. His long-range assault devastates part of the city while pursuing Sen's group, establishing him as a threat far beyond Sen's cultivation stage.

Golden Phoenix matriarch (Supporting)

First appears in chapter 57

A nascent-soul sect leader and influential city power. She joins other senior cultivators in restraining the Syndicate head and supports Sen's campaign because she regards the criminal organization as a danger to the capital.

Mad nascent-soul cultivator (Minor)

First appears in chapter 60

A dangerous and elusive nascent-soul cultivator who may possess the final known copy of the Five-Fold Body Transformation Manual. Locating her becomes Sen's remaining lead after the capital search fails.
