Worlds Apart

By J.D. Franx

The eighth book in The Darkness Within Saga finds the warrior Kale flung through a portal onto an unfamiliar world already devastated by a magical catastrophe, roughly 120 years after the world's own defenders destroyed the source of its magic in a desperate last stand against an invasion. Wounded, cut off from his home world's power, and reunited with his bonded spirit companion, Kale relies on a local guide named Abby to survive a landscape haunted by witches and daemons, and is eventually detained by a suspicious religious authority that fears his abilities. A surviving general reveals the history behind the world's ruin and points him toward the ruined citadel in a hazardous desert where its magic was lost, and Kale sets out to find answers and a way home, amid a rising threat from creatures still hunting for something taken from them.
